Under Bill’s leadership and entrepreneurial direction, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Donation Center was established in 1997, and he is nationally recognized for having founded the BBBS High School program which has been replicated throughout the United States. Well respected across the country and within the agency as a strategic and creative leader, Bill embodies the business acumen and passion necessary to ensure that the Littles in our program realize their endless potential. See Bill’s full bio. ![]() Susan Samaroo Chief Operating Officer As Chief Operating Officer, Susan brings over 21 years of experience as a leader at BBBSLI. Having started as a Case Manager at the agency in 1990, she has since been instrumental in developing the BBBSLI Scholarship program as well as establishing a service delivery model that streamlined the agency’s enrollment process. Susan’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Long Island’s youth extends beyond her executive office, and can be seen in the dugout during the BBBSLI Summer Picnic, where she has led the annual softball game for over a decade. See Susan’s full bio. ![]() Mark Cox Chief Development Officer As BBBSLI’s Chief Development Officer, Mark serves as lead strategist for agency fund development, including donor acquisition, developing and executing fund-raising events, and cultivating relationships to drive corporate and foundation giving. Responsible for creating some of the agency’s most successful fundraising events, Mark also secured the largest single contribution in the agency’s history. Mark was formerly the Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Hofstra University, his alma mater, where he also played four years of collegiate football and lacrosse. See Mark’s full bio. ![]() Josephine Todisco Asst. Director of Services Josephine began her career with BBBSLI in 1998 as an Enrollment Specialist and was promoted to Asst. Director of Services in 2001. With over 16 years experience in the field of social work, Josephine oversees program staff and day to day program operations. Josephine has a history of volunteerism and preventative work and is dedicated to BBBSLI’s mission of improving the lives of children here on Long Island. ![]() Rachelle Ayala Case Manager Rachelle joined BBBSLI in January of 2011, following a career in youth services and development. With 10 years of work and volunteer experience, including 5 years as a Youth Program Director, she is the perfect fit for overseeing the East End Site-Based school programs as well as managing her caseload of Bigs and Littles. Rachelle is passionate about seeking creative ways to positively impact the upcoming generation. ![]() Brian Cooper Case Manager Brian joined BBBSLI in January of 2011 as a Case Manager after serving as Head of Teen Services for a public library for many years. Brian finds much inspiration from working with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters in his caseload, and enjoys seeing their positive impact on the Littles and their families firsthand. Brian enjoys various interests and loves being an Uncle to his nephew and two nieces. ![]() Robert Richardson Case Manager Bob’s career has been focused on positively impacting the lives of children, adolescents and families, centered on prevention in the field of social work. His strong belief in helping others led him to BBBSLI in 2008 where he manages a caseload of matches as well as conducts interviews for both client and volunteer applicants. In addition to casework and interviews, Bob can be found on the summer fishing trip or coordinating a volleyball game at the annual picnic. ![]() Mara Schwartz Case Manager Mara has had a diverse career background, ranging from overseeing art programs for children ages 6-18 to management roles in the financial and real estate industries. Combined with her dedication to inspire and guide others and her interest in helping children, it proves most effective for her role as a Case Manager overseeing 65+ matches for BBBSLI. When she isn’t doing match support, you may find Mara sculpting, painting, or volunteering for charitable organizations. ![]() Mary Vissichelli Case Manager After earning her Masters in School Counseling and following her career at the EAC (Education & Assistance Corporation) Mary joined BBBSLI’s program staff as a Case Manager in 2009. In addition to managing a caseload of 40+ matches, Mary oversees the Hofstra University Site Based Mentoring Program, sharing a glimpse of higher education and providing recreational activities to the Littles in her program. ![]() Carmelina Vassallo Human Resources Generalist Carmelina joined BBBSLI in 2011 and brings with her a diverse knowledge of retail, manufacturing and non-profit organizations to administer human resource programs including recruitment and retention, employee relations, payroll and benefit administration. As the newest addition to the agency, Carmelina’s determination to improve the lives of others makes BBBSLI a perfect fit for her. ![]() Erika Kelly Customer Relations Specialist Born in Colombia, Erika joins BBBSLI as our Customer Relations Specialist and is the first point of contact for inquiring families and volunteers. Erika, who is bilingual, completed her studies in Journalism and Public Relations before coming to the United States 10 years ago. Erika is also a professional dancer and teacher of one of the most successful Flamenco and Spanish dances and Latin American folklore programs on Long Island. ![]() |
