It’s not just a donation. It’s an investment in a child’s future.
When you donate online to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, you join our cause and directly support children in your community. No matter how little or big the amount, donating can start making a difference in the lives of young people around you.
Donating pays dividends.
Research shows that our mentoring works. Children with a Big Brother or Big Sister show real differences in their personal and academic lives. They are more confident in their schoolwork performance, they get along better with their families, and they’re 52% less likely to skip school.
Your support goes far.
Every day, we work tirelessly to change the perspectives of children and give them an opportunity to achieve great things. But without donations, we couldn’t offer our mentoring services. Your financial support helps us develop more college grads, community leaders and entrepreneurs by:
- Recruiting new Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers
- Covering the costs of background checks and ensuring that trained professionals match Littles to responsible Bigs
- Providing ongoing supervision and relationship support for every Big, Little and Little’s family
- Creating cultural and social activities that enrich opportunities for our Littles

Donate a Car or Truck
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Long Island can accept cars, trucks, SUVs, motor homes, boats, airplanes, etc. The Cars for Kids' Sake program is a national program that helps local Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies raise funds to support their mission.
The process for donating a vehicle is simple and hassle-free. Just call us toll-free at 800.710.9145. You will be asked to describe the condition of your unwanted vehicle (remember, it doesn’t need to run) and to provide the current mileage. You’ll also be asked to identify the make, model, and vehicle identification number (VIN). Then we’ll arrange a convenient time for pickup. It’s that easy.
Your donated vehicle will later be sold at a dealers-only auction or to a licensed recycler. With all costs deducted, we consistently receive between 65% and 80% of the gross sale price.
Donated vehicles qualify as charitable gifts and may be eligible for tax deduction. See IRS Publication 526 or visit http://www.irs.gov/publications/p526/ar01.html for information on claiming this and other charitable deductions on your annual tax return.
Your donation of unwanted clothing, household items and furniture directly impact our mentoring program, and enable BBBSLI to keep our services free of charge for the children and families we serve. Click or call to schedule a pickup today, or find a bin location that is convenient for you to drop off! Tax deductible receipts are provided.
