Chief Executive Officer: William Tymann

As Chief Executive Officer, William Tymann oversees all aspects of the agency’s mentoring, safety education and support services.

Under Mr. Tymann’s leadership and entrepreneurial direction, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Donation Center was established in 1994, allowing Nassau and Suffolk County residents to donate their unwanted clothing and household items in turn to generate funds for the agency to increase the number of children and families served by the BBBSLI programs.

Prior to his position as CEO, Mr. Tymann served as BBBSLI’s Executive Director from 1979 through 1994. Mr. Tymann is nationally recognized as the founder of the Big Brothers Big Sisters High School Program which has been replicated throughout the country.

Mr. Tymann received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fordham University in 1970.

Chief Operating Officer: Susan Samaroo

As Chief Operating Officer, Susan Samaroo is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the agency, including program development, risk management, human resources, supervision of social work staff as well as assisting the CEO in the administration and oversight of the Donation Center. Ms. Samaroo is also part of the Scholarship Committee.

Ms. Samaroo has been with BBBSLI for 20 years, and throughout her tenure has been a leader behind many of the agency’s successes. Accomplishments include implementing a service delivery model to streamline the enrollment process, which reduced processing time and increased yield rate of volunteers, resulting in a greater number of children being served due to the decreased waiting period to be matched.

Prior to her position as COO, Ms. Samaroo served as BBBSLI’s Director of Services, Assistant Director of Development, as well as held a variety of leadership positions across service and program development. She graduated from New York University in 1990 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

Chief Development Officer: Mark Cox

As the Chief Development Officer, Mark Cox serves as lead strategist for agency fund development, including donor acquisition, developing and executing fund-raising events, and cultivating relationships to drive corporate and foundation giving.

Mr. Cox joined BBBSLI in 2007, and has implemented numerous new fund-raising events including the Annual Walk for Kids’ Sake at Jones Beach and several poker fundraisers. Additionally, Mr. Cox secured the largest single contribution in the agency’s history in naming the James C. Metzger/E. David Woycik, Jr. Endowment Fund.

Prior to his position as CDO, Mr. Cox worked as the Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Hofstra University. He graduated from Hofstra University with a BBA in Marketing in 1992, and earned a Masters of Science and Education in 2001. Mr. Cox also played four years of football and Lacrosse, and was recipient of the 1991 Iron Mike Award which is presented to the best collegiate football player on Long Island.
