The Donation Center

The Donation Center was established in 1997 to assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island become a self-sustaining organization and enable them to continue to serve and increase service to the children and families across Long Island.

We send our fleet of trucks across Long Island six days a week and pick up gently used items at your doorstep—including clothing, coats, shoes, and small household items. The Donation Center turns these items into cash, and then we donate 100% of net profits to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island.

The Donation Center has the capability of handling up to 200,000 pounds of donations per week!

The Donation Center places roughly 75,000 calls per week, thats about 300,000 calls per month!

From those phone calls, the Calling Center schedules about 20,000 pickups monhtly. Another 5,000 pickups are scheduled through the front office.

The Donation Center has about 65 Bins through Nassau and Suffolk Counties. About 160,000 pounds of donations come from those bins alone every week!
