A Note from a Big and a Little

Alicia and Destiny have been matched since December of 2008. Even in this short time, they have impacted one another's lives. Together, they wrote the acrostic below to share just how much.

Beginning a new friendship with someone special.
I was nervous to meet my new little sister, but we soon figured out we had so much in common.
Girls being silly, having fun, and sharing our hopes and dreams together.

Spending time going to museums, hockey games, or just talking.
Ice skating at EAB plaza, holding each other up because we were afraid to fall.
Sisters sometimes lend an ear, a shoulder or a hand to hold.
Taking funny pictures and laughing at them afterwards.
Eating ice cream before a blizzard! Yum!
Realizing I can’t wait to spend time with Destiny again.


Little while ago we met each other.
I was a little shy to meet my big sister, but now we act crazy together.
Terrific time creating / designing sneakers at the Long Island Children’s Museum.
Talking with my big sister is a lot of fun.
Learning new things together is very fascinating.
Every time we hang out with each other we do something new!!!!!

Silly faces that I make, makes my big sister laugh.
Ice cream is delicious when I’m with her!!!!!
Singing to the car radio on the top of our lungs.
Teaching each other new things each day.
Exciting things to do like going to see Disney on Ice, going out to eat, and slapping some peoples’ hands. . . Oh yeah, the Islanders’ hands, on their way out onto the ice!!!
Realizing that my big sister Alicia and I have a lot in common.
